KOFIC Strengthens Crackdown on IMAX Scalping for Movie 'Odyssey'

With IMAX tickets originally priced at around 20,000 KRW being resold for as much as 100,000 KRW on some sites, the market has become so overheated that normal booking has become nearly impossible.

Consequently, the council plans to take strict measures against detected illegal transactions and cooperate with platform operators to remove illegal posts and implement practical responses.

Industry insiders agree that this crackdown should not be a one-time event but rather a catalyst for establishing a fair ticketing culture across the entire K-Content market. Scalping not only intercepts revenue from film production and distribution companies but also infringes upon the rights of the majority of audiences who wish to enjoy movies at fair prices.
